Cajeput Essential Oil

Melaleuca Cajuputi

Cajeput Essential Oil blends well with Angelica, Bergamot, Cloves, Lavender, Geranium and Thyme Essential Oils

Known Uses

Cajeput Oil is very efficient in fighting bacterial infections, viruses, and fungi, such as tetanus, influenza, cholera and typhoid. It can be topically applied to cuts and wounds to protect against tetanus and effectively treats pimples and acne.

Because Cajeput Oil’s properties are so strong, even a diluted solution can be used as an insecticide to eliminate mosquitoes, ants and other insects. A diluted solution can also be rubbed on the body to keep insects away. A mild, diluted solution can also be ingested to kill intestinal worms. It also can relieve and prevent flatulence.

Cajeput Essential Oil is an effective decongestant and expectorant, bringing immediate relief to sinus congestion, coughs, and inflammation of the throat and can treat laryngitis, pharyngitis and bronchitis. It increases blood circulation, stimulates the endocrine glands and promotes perspiration. Cajeput Essential Oil is anti-spasmodic and relieves cramps. It can also normalize menstruation.

Cajeput Oil reduces pain. When applied topically, it gives quick relief. If ingested (in a highly diluted form), it can reduce pain in joints and muscles, and relieve a headache. Cajeput oil brightens and tones the skin, keeping it bacteria-free. Therefore, it is extensively used in cosmetics and antiseptic creams.

History

Cajeput is a cousin of the Tea tree. It grows primarily in the swampy areas of Malaysia. Due to the color of its bark, it is sometimes known as White Tea Tree. Locally in Malaysia, it is considered to be a cure-all for many ailments by those who have limited access to medicine. It is somewhat milder and less overpowering than Tea Tree Oil, but can be used in much the same way.

Warning

Ingestion of a large quantity of Cajeput Essential Oil or application topically in highly concentrated form may cause irritation. Consume only small, diluted amounts or apply only mild solutions for internal or external use.
